Hello all. My 425 is starting to leak fluid out of one of the wheel motors. Parts said that it is the seal and needle bearing that needs to be replaced. I have a local hydraulics shop that could do it or I could give it a try myself. Have any of you done this?

Jim!

I replaced the seal in one of the White motors on my 425. I did not replace any bearings. I bought a seal and gasket kit from the White distributor in Chattanooga. I think it was a little over $20.

White shipped a lot of motors with defective seals about the time PT starting using their motors on the PT-425s. The seals were too hard. I have had two motors develop a leak. Both started leaking while the machine was sitting over the winter. Cold weather seems to have something to do with it.

I used a press to remove and reinstall the bearing. I cleaned the parts in a solvent tank before I reassembled it. As I recall, I did not remove the rear bearing from the case.

Just curious if your wheels were reversed?

Thanks guys for the comments. I am taking the motor off this weekend to clean it and look it over. It is not one of the earlier motors, might be a Parker? I'll know better when I take it off.

JJ: No, I left the motors mounted as is. I would guess that this leak might have shown up sooner if I had reversed the motors tho...

You should have White motors. They started using them on the PT425s in early to mid 2003. AFAIK, they are still using the same model.
