I need to replace the ignition switch on my JD 755 tractor. I know nothing about working on the tractor. What do I need to take off in order to get to the ignition switch? I really appreciate any and all help.
Thank you for having this forum.

Without seeing the switch or knowing the tractor it is hard to tell what you need to do to access it. I would suggest you disconnect the positive terminal on your battery first and just dive in. Usually there is a circular nut holding the switch to the dash that you unscrew to loosen the switch from the dash. Then you just dis-attach the wires on the old switch and transfer them to the new one. (access to behind the dash may be the challenge)

If you are standing on the left side of the tractor - there is a panel right below the back of the hood in this screen shot I circled in red.

Disconnect red + battery cable from the battery.

Remove that panel.

Take a picture of the wiring on the old switch so you can reference that you put the new one in correctly.

Make sure new switch and old switch are exactly the same.

Take wires from old switch and reinstall them on new switch exactly the same way.

Unscrew bezel / trim ring on the outside of old switch (where you put the key in)

Remove old switch.

Install new switch.

Reinstall bezel trim ring.

Reattach red + battery cable to battery.

Test it functions.

Replace panel.

This may not need to be said but be sure to remove the negative battery cable for this job.

Mike.
