I was just checking Ebay to learn if I could get filters for my Deere 4210 there, and one seller is offering Fram PH 9688 oil filters for a really good price if you purchase them 6 or 12 at a time. They claim this is a correct replacement for the M806419, and has anyone used the Fram instead, and found them satisfactory? Thanks.

For cross ref from The Fram web site, it does match. But after reading some things about Fram, I stay away from them. (just my opinion) I aways use WIX filters. As for E-Bay no way, to many things can go wrong. Filters are no part to cheap out on.

Most members will probably recommend staying away from Fram filters. You could probably use them and not have a issue but Fram has not had a great track record with diesel filters (fall apart and block oil passages). Not saying this particular filter has had any issues though. Just something for you to keep in mind while shopping.

You could also look at the JD TY22045 $4.50/filter if your looking for an alternative to the M806419 $7.50/filter.

Thanks for your input, I have been buying on Ebay for many years (at least 50 purchases) and had only one negative experience with a seller. I should say I also checked Ebay for the Wix 51064....the local JD dealer sold me the Wix one time when he didn't have a JD filter. Dealer charged me about $13 with tax for the Wix, I did some research and can buy 8 of them for just over fifty bucks ($6.24 each) at Auto Parts Tomorrow | ACDelco, Bendix Brakes, Denso, Motorcraft and more and they offer free shipping on a $50 purchase. Some Ebay sellers offer the same Wix 51064 for $7 or $8, but their shipping charges usually as much or more than the filter !

Oh, while on the subject, my Saturn uses a Wix 57033. Local auto stores sell it for about $13 plus tax. Can get them from APT online for $4.60 each. What a no brainer.

Thanks for your input, will check on the TY22045. Last time I purchased a M806419 was in May 2010, price was $8.34 then. Concur with you on the quality of Fram, I used to use their filters in all my vehicles a LONG time ago. I had hoped their quality had improved, apparently not.

Do you use a lot of filter? Why not just buy your JD filter which are top quality and be done with it. Cheaply made filters (like fram) are hardly worth the saving.:confused2:JMHO

Two filters a year, that ain't much really, you are right, saving on a cheap filter just ain't worth it. It's an hour's drive to get to the nearest dealership (JD) plus gas. I was planning to buy a dozen filters to stock up so any savings per filter would be a lot. Thanks.

Saving money is a good idea but going crazy saving money is well just...:confused2:
I have always found JD filters to be top quality and I have found fram to be the poorest excuse for a filter. Sometimes they are worse than no filter at all.:)
