Does any one know if there is a Yanmar engine to replace the 2TR20A-X that is in my YM240, either new or used.

In my recent thread with the Yanmar brochure cover pages, this topic was recently covered. A YM240 or YM2000 or YM2000A or YM2000A-A or a YM2000B may be machine to look for an engine replacement. In fact, you can SPLIT the front from the rear on these machines and just bolt the another tractor half to do the swap. No need to remove the engine at all. Then use the other halves as part machines. A real win-win.

There is a Yanmar split thread in this sub-forum too.

That is one of the EZ-est engine swaps I've ever seen! Worth looking into. :)

Being up in PA really limits the ability to snag another engine right away. If you lived further south, a 2 or 4 hour drive would be the easy thing to do.

Look around on CList, tractor auctions, tractor salvage sites, etc. The link in my sig is the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group. It has a WIKI Resources page with just about all the places to call and find a replacement engine or tractor as a donner.

I hadn't seen that thread. Clever!

A related thread said the owner of a YM2210 VN refurb discovered a 2TR20-A (YM2000) engine in it. The displacement is the same, so 2210's extra 2 hp must be provided by more fuel, timing, or rated at higher rpm.

Normally, Yanmar just tweaked the fuel pump, injectors or the air intake to make the same engine a few ponies more or less.

Yes, I've bookmarked that thread years ago.

Bummer the original poster came in, placed all the good info and then vanished, not heard from again.

Yes, machine with the 2TRxx series MAY all bolt up to one another. The largest 2TR is the 2TR90 in the YM2700. A bit rare, but possible.

Hey, as we are on this, I'll also post something for the OP too. The 2TRxx Parts Manuals. A really RARE gem!

I tossed in the 2QM20 3QM30 engine info. In a past thread you had mentioned it was a Marine version of the 2TR20. Hey, it could work too!

Thank you for posting those manuals! The pre-1975 models are covered. This is the first time I've ever seen this information.

Interesting! I see YM1500 is unique then YM1600,1700, 1900, 2000 all can take the same replacement block casting. All take the same crankshaft. YM1600 and 1700 take one model cylinder sleeve, YM1900 and 2000 share another one. I have suspected YM1900 was a prehistoric YM2000, this seems to confirm it.

As for YM2700: I don't think those are part of this family. YM2200 and 2700 have the exhaust on the opposite side of the block, they are a unique Yanmar series.

Here's one more. This is the diesel fuel injector manual for the YM series. Wish it was better resolution for the images. BUT, I can't be too picky for FREE grabs. This was on a Japan website, but it applies to the US YM models and the US industrials, yet still works for the YM grays.

BTW, here is another 2TRxx. It's the smallest baby. 2TR13.
