Replace Kohler Motor in Grasshopper

I have a 1998 grasshopper that had a Kohler Command 20 hp motor on it. The motor blew a hole in the side, not for sure if it had been repaired at one time or not I bought it used. I have found what is supposed to be a 2004 Cub mower that has a Kohler Command 23 hp motor on it. Should I be able to just swapped these motors out? My grasshopper machine is in pretty good shape and the cub is not but the motor is supposed to be. Thanks for any input.

Check on the bolt pattern for mounting the motor and check on the bolt pattern for mounting anything to the shaft of the motor and check on the diameter and length of the shaft as well.

Looks like you can buy a used Kohler Command 20 hp replacement engine block for $100 from eBay vendor. Other parts also listed there.
