I have the same saw. I would first remove the recoil mechanism and see what is wrong. As someone else mentioned, it could just be gunked up and need cleaning, lubrication and it will be fine. If not, get a price on a new recoil mechanism. If it is less than $50.00, replace it. If it is more than $50.00 you can get that exact same saw factory reconditioned at Rural King for $99.00 several times a year or brand new for $149.00 (and sometimes less) Keep the old one for parts.
