Box Scraper Repair Box Blade Rust

Acquired BB with significant rust-thru at bottom 1.5 inch edge of side plate at cutting edge. Has hinged rear blade so I only need to worry about front cutting edge. Don't think a picture would show much. Anyone repaired similar damage?

Don't ya know a picture is worth a thousand words???

For example:

1. Is the metal rusted clear thru?
2. Is the part that's rusted simple flat metal with no form or machining?
3. Does the rusted part have anything bolted to it?
4. Is the rusted part of structural importance?

I've replaced a lot of rusted metal but until I know what you are talking about any advice I give will certainly be misguided.
