Hey y'all,

I caught a big stick in my MMM and it shoved the blade into the mulching plate which bent the blade and tore up the mulching plate. It was a pretty sever sudden stoppage. Hopefully it didn't bend a rod or anything. Anyway, I have to get the blade off to straighten it. It seems to be on there pretty tight. Any recommendations on how to get it off?

Take the deck off and use an impact wrench probably 30mm socket unless you can get to mut without taking deck off.I'd want to get the deck off and see what was really done.

Yup, impact wrench...I jacked mine up enough to get impact under there..ramps work well.

Figured it out. The sudden stop must have over torqued the bolt in there. I finally hit it hard enough that it just popped the head off the bolt. Luckily the shank came out easy with a bolt remover. Would there be anything wrong with running it a blade short? I need to get the lawn mowed and I am going out of town tomorrow.

Having a blade off is not necessarily an unbalanced condition, so I suppose in an emergency, it might be ok. To be on the safe side, I'd make sure no person or animal is around that could possibly be hit if something went wrong.

I can't remember if the blade bolt does anything to hold the hub together in any way.

Thanks. It doesn't look like the blade bolt holds anything together. Wish me luck! If I don't report back. Assume it doesn't work! :)

Running with one blade off and maybe some other damage sounds like a bad idea to me. Good luck at whatever you do.

I didn't mention it before but I had removed the damaged mulching plate, and inspected everything as well. It worked fine, couldn't tell there was a blade off. However, I agree, I don't condone someone else doing this.

Thanks.
