My woods are being taken over by jap barberry. My forester wants me to work on removal. Is there a good tractor implement for this?
Would a loader grapple work?

Uprooting the material was listed as one of the time intensive approaches compared to mowing/spraying in the report I linked. Like anything, you'd have to assess how much time /money each approach will actually take for you relative to the amount of barberry you need to remove.
If you choose uprooting, the least expensive starting point could be getting about 10 inches of 2" pipe to make one of these to use as a puller with a chain attached to the drawbar. Front-End Loader - Danuser Intimdator
I don't have Japanese Barberry but have tons of Amur Honeysuckle and Privet. My L3560 isn't strong enough to pull them out of the ground with the bucket or grapple although maybe something narrower like a stump bucket could. I find it easiest to just cut them off with a chainsaw and treat the stump with Tordon or full strength glysophate so they don't grow back. I keep a battery powered chainsaw and a spray bottle of herbicide in both my SxS and tractor because pretty much every time I'm out on the property I run into more invasive bushes.
