Removing injection pump on JD 750

THATS WHY your tractor won’t run.. the pump rack (slider) is stuck..
And now it’s stuck in the block because it won’t move..
Look down the sides of the pump and see if u can tell which way the rack is sticking out the farthest.. and try to pry it on that side.
I hate to tell you to pry on anything.. but it’s not doing u any good like this..

Status ... There is definitely a slot cut out where the slide needs to be in order to clear the housing. The slot starts about the center point (50%) of the pump and a bit right (towards front of tractor) at about the 70% mark or so...
Lubed up the rod attached to the slide on the injection pump w WD40
Put WD40 in the fuel inlet on top of the pump (where the bleeder valve is). Started working the slide.
Slide will now move up/down with ease.
Also moves a bit to the left (towards back of tractor) but not enough to get to the cut out...
Lubed it all again and letting is soak.. fingers crossed

Kool..
WD40 isn’t a very good penetrating oil..it has its place, don’t get me wrong..
Next time you’re in the hardware store, try to find some “KNOCK’ER LOOSE”
I haven’t found anything that it wouldn’t break free..
Good luck and keep us updated..

I hadta use that stuff today..
I had to separate 2 screws that would not budge..
I hit it w heat, no go..
I broke out the KNOCK’ER LOOSE.. sprayed it down and kept myself busy for about 15-20 minutes..
Tried to separate w just 2 wrenchs.. no go..
I hit it again w some heat and they broke loose in about 10 seconds..
I’m telling u, I haven’t found anything it won’t break loose..(not yet anyway)

Keep us updated please..

I have the same issue with the injector pump on a JD750 compact tractor. Do you have any pictures that shows what your referencing? My tractor will start and run about 10 seconds then die. Same thing over and over. Good fuel flow to the pump, nozzle closest to the steering wheel barely has fuel coming out the pump, more like a bubble; the other 2 nozzles seem to have a good stream of fuel. Any ideas?

Have u read this entire thread..??
The fellas did a good job of explaining the process..
There is a cut out in the engine block below the pumps mounting flange that will allow the rack pin to pass and the pump to come out..
But u hafta make sure u hit it…& DO NOT PRY ON THE PUMP.. it will slide right out.
Good luck

Yes, I did. I removed the pump last night and when I removed the spring off the throtttle assembly inside, i dropped it into the housing. Gotta find it and dig it out. Took the injector pump and injectors to the shop this morning for rebuild. Thanks.

Some things are best explained by just doing it..
“Oh, THATS what they were talking about “..
Glad it wasn’t too much trouble..
