I have a 5' rear blade for my bx1860 that works great for most snowfalls. It is about 3" wider on each side than the tractor when it is angled to drag the snow off the driveway. But, when the snow gets over 8-10 inches or so it would be nice to have about a 6" extension on one side so I don't need to drive with my tires in the snowbank. It doesn't need to touch the ground, just push the snow a little further over. I would like to be able to move it to the opposite side of the blade at times, if possible. Oh, I always use it driving forward, not backward. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks is advance!

When I widened my old riding mower plow to work with my BX I used a couple of pieces cut from the inner tank of a 50 gal water heater. I added about 10 inches on each side. The curve of the tank was almost a perfect match for the plow. You might need 2 or three pieces stacked to match the thickness of your back blade.

My back blade has multiple mounting holes in the blade (can kinda see them in the picture). Could just re-mount the blade to one side. Not sure if you have the same option....and you mentioned wanting to swap sides, that would be a pain this way.
I just got to put my new blade to it's first use here a few days ago with about a 10" snowfall. Works sweet, but I was thinking the same thing about being able to knock the snow farther off to the side without driving in the snowbanks. I don't need to worry about moving anything side to side so I think I just may try re-mounting my blade to "stick out" more on one side. And no...I'm not worried about bending anything on the blade or 3pt.
Or, build a sleve (water heater tank is a great idea) with some mounting holes on each side of the blade and sleve....move at will.
Just some ideas...let us know what you come up with.

How about a 2" receiver hitch socket on each side. Then have your blade extension plug into the socket. This way you could also fab up sides for the blade as well that would be easily removable.

I have the same red color blade on my Compact tractor.....first one bent due my own fault of bein' a newbie at plougin' snow.....I was able to return it and get a new replacement....that I beefed it up by welding extra 1/4 inch steel where it pivots under and on the top both sides...and no more bending problems....I've since repainted it yellow and left the cutting bar original black color...plus I have my 42" Craftsman front mounted and use an electric winch to raise and lower it....I also repainted this one yellow and the cutter bar black....I also adapted an old Ford Pickup brake light switch when raising it so I don't break the winch cable and also stop it from bending the plough frame which like the plough it'self is made of light metal....I also chained it so it don't flop down flat as the one and only spring is a weak part as well....I have bent the blade a bit....but I'm not worrying about it as I'd like to get a new 48" (4') same as the rear grader....take care Ampa
