Remember your first car?

Thanks Paul. I think it's a pretty good deal!!!

Rob,
Your place sounds exactly like it was with me growing up except we had a big ranch to take care of. Every year my grandparents took the whole family, all of their kids and grandchildren, on an adventure. We went all kinds of places and it was a blast. We got to see and do things that other kids never had a chance to do and it was great.

This is in response to Rob A. post about kids with the 20000 + cars.

I am teacher at a large high school and we have joke around school that the nice new cars are on the student parking lot and the old cars that the auto shop students are working on come from the teacher's parking lot. It is not uncommon for these kids to drive yukons full size blazers, jeeps you name it the kids drive it.

Greenthumb, I've heard that expression from both my parents and my in-laws, they are all teachers as well as having their own businesses. The newest car any of them has is 5 years old with the oldest being my father whose car is 14 yrs old. It just makes me wonder why we pay teachers so little, but that is a whole different discussion.

58 green 2-door Chevy Biscayne, straight six, 3 speed. Sold it after 2 years when the clutch went out. Bought a new VW bug, 1968. Probably the best car I've every owned was a 1984 911 Porsche. New and beautiful. A dream to drive. Sold it after 2 years for a house and wife. I'd buy one today but tractors and trucks keep taking my cash. They're more fun anyway.

I don't remember having any trouble with speedo, except when the police said it was going slower than I was.

The way I see it, everyone remembers their first, car, motorcycle, pickup, tractor. Their first date, their first,,,, better not go there,,,, Anyway, my first car was a 1957 Ford Skyliner. Got it after I broadsided a 1956 Ford custom with my first motor scooter. A 1959 Vespa. Broke both arms and both legs. Figured that a car was safer. Age 15.

therrien, I use to have a 340 Duster that I loved, I had the same problems with cops radars , I was consistantly 20-40mph to the bad(for me). I did have a theory that there must have been some kind of electrical interferance between my plymouth and his radar/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Cowboydoc

If the kid is doing chores morning and night you can afford to spoil her a little bit. Kinda hard to get into trouble with your firends if you're busy shoveling out the barn. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Lack of chores appears to be half the problem with the kids today. It isn't that they're all that spoiled, its just that they're somewhat spoiled and have absolutely nothing to do. Idle hands...
