windcatcher Does your parking "brake" work now? ... The reason I use quotes is that, I think, garyfowler stated that that is a separate brake from the standard brakes - not just locking the std brakes on.

... This brings up the possibility that it isnt a brake at all, but instead a gearlock inside the transmission or final drive. My John Deere 2010 has that and its great -- a true lockup. If your LS uses this type of system it seems easy that there could be an adjustment or part missing or broken in the trans and no amt of playing with brakes would have an effect. It doesnt seem like troubleshooters in LS could be that ignorant. :confused3:

Spyderlk, I have not idea of what is going on. This tractor has been a thorn in my side since the beginning. The hydraulic leak showed up at around 15.9 hours. LS says the dealer didn't have any records, yet I have e-mails referring to the leak and other documentation too.

Your guess is as good as mine at this point. I have a very heavy piece of equipment that cannot be used.

On my 5030 the hand brake is tied into the brakes if I pull on parking brake the pedals go down. I have the pedals locked together. I push the pedals down then pull up on the parking braking to save the cable life.

Windcatcher, This whole episode doesn't bode well for LS! Their reputation is based entirely on one seemingly inept dealership represented by poor decisions and poor workmanship! Now your problems have been transferred to another dealership that either have the same mechanics from the previous dealership working for them, or they didn't see the need to check out the whole story to find the truth instead blaming you for everything. If LS wants to build their business and reputation as one of the premier tractor manufacturers in the US, they need to start paying attention to their current customers. LS would do well to remember their dealerships and the mechanics hired by these dealerships are the front line of customer satisfaction. No customer satisfaction, no customers!

As a owner of a LS Tractor I am more than upset at how you are being treated by LS itself. Had I seen this info before purchasing mine? I wouldn't have even considered LS! In the least LS should send one of their own reps out to inspect your tractor, paperwork, and information pertaining to original delivery and repairs made at the dealership to get to the truth. Maybe someone at LS would see the facts for what they are. 45 days for repairs they didn't make, and wiring that is removed or missing. It doesn't make sense!

A 5 year warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on if this is the way people do business!

Good Luck! I'll keep track of the outcome.

A five year warranty is pretty useless to me at this juncture in my life. Give me an hourly warranty- say 500 hours. But I agree these blatant poor service episodes should not be forgotten when people come here seeking buying advice.

Other than Windcatcher's post there are actually very few or minor complaints about LS tractors. Every tractor brand has minor and major complaints of which a lot are posted on this site. I don't know the entire story since we are only hearing Windcatchers side on this forum. I hope Windcatcher gets some satisfaction and gets the repairs he needs from LS and his dealer.
I will also have to go to a new dealer that didn't sell me my tractor if I needed any major repairs (my selling dealer is no longer a dealer). I have spoken to LS directly and through Emails. LS contacted me by mail and referred me to and contacted the new dealer for me. I have met the new dealer and purchased all my 50 hour filters from them. I have also spoken to the local LS rep at the local farm shows a couple times now.
I am happy with my LS and would still have purchased LS even after reading these posts.

Same as my R3039. I do the same trick.

I'd make a trip to their HQ and sit in someones office until I got satisfactory answers. How close they are to me was part of my decision to go with them.

Yep, when I first got home with my XR4046HC I tried to park it on an slight incline. Applied parking brake using the handle only and the tractor would slowly roll back.

Finally noticed that the operators manual recommends pushing on brake pedals while pulling up on the brake handle. VIOLA! I stopped halfway up the backside of one of our dams, set brake and it would not roll.

The parking brake on my New Holland TL100A is independent of the brake pedals so, I originally assumed the LS was same. DUH!
