Deere 5055e 2015, Ferris IS2000z 2007
My Deere 5055e has just over 250 hrs on it. Last September the Regeneration light came on. The Deere man told me to push and hold the Regeneration button for a few seconds, while the tractor was running. The light finally went out so I suppose the process worked. I used the tractor for light mowing during this process. I re-read the owners manual this morning, it said if the Regeneration light comes on, you should do a Parked Exhaust Filter Cleaning for at least 30 minutes. Should this be done on a regular basis even if the light does not come on? This tractor does not do much heavy work, mainly bush-hogging, finishing mowing and spraying the driveway for weeds.

P.S. After doing more reading on the internet, it appears others are confused as to when their tractor needs Regeneration, and how to do it. The owners manual is not very helpful. It seems it is not necessary to do a Regeneration until the light does come on. That being said, those lights on the dash are confusing as to what they mean. It took me forever to figure out what the symbol meant.

Well, My Deere doesn't have to regen...but my Kubota does so all I can tell you is how the Kubota system works as it might be similar.
When the Regen light comes on on the dash, it means that the tractor is going through a regen cycle. YOU don't have to do anything except keep working the tractor, and that means keep the rpms over 1500 (at least on the Kubota). When the regen cycle is done the light goes out. Now, there is a manual, or "Parked" regen that I can initiate on the Kubota by pushing another button. Then I can park the tractor with rpms up high and leave it until the regen is done. I've never done a manual regen - never found a need for it.

When I first got the Kubota I too was very confused about how this regen thing worked. I found out it is really not a big deal at all. If the light comes on while I'm working I just make sure I keep on working until the light goes off. Do not shut down the tractor while it is regenerating. If you do so, that's when you may have to do a manual (Parked) regeneration because that soot build-up in the DPF will need to be burned off.

Interesting. That was not the impression I got from reading the Deere manual. Thank you so much for answering this, there is so much I do not understand about these tractors.

I don't own anything orange or green with a DPF on it. But the systems seem to be too much confusing for the operators.

First of all, no panic when a light comes on. You need to understand what the different lights mean.

There is the warning light that comes on when a regeneration is in progress. It warns the operator of hot exhaust gases and hot exhaust components. The operator does not have to interfere. Keep on working.

Except, due to the hot exhaust, for the example the machine is operated in a hay shed, you don't want that regeneration to happen in there due to the fire hazard. Now the operator wants to depress the regeneration and pushes the "cancel" button. An automatic regeneration cycle might be initiated by machine at some point later OR it is asking for a "Parked Regeneration".
