Regeneration cycle

/ Regeneration cycle #21
I have a gear drive tractor and it is no different than running normanly. Mine did one today and I just shifted to low range 4 gear and kept working. Depending on what I am doing I do not use low range but did so today because the ground was rough

Depends on what you are doing. Loader work would be very hard on clutch if engine is cranked up to 2500 rpm to perform a regen.

In this case it's a moot point as the OPs B3350SU is a hydro.

I agree, though. I do not like to run my engines wide open when not needed. Doing so just runs up revolutions and wastes fuel.

Thanks, feds.

It's a diesel. runnign them slow is worse for them.

fuel use difference is very minor. Bigger difference is the LOAD they are under.

Go drive yoru car with instant MPG displayed, low gear 2500 rpm, level road or neutral down a hill. then go up a hill at 2500 rpm and see the difference. LOAD, not RPM is what uses fuel.

And an engine on a tractor is good for 7k hours if not more, particularly diesels. A few more revs won't make a difference on that.

Thats what you have low range for. No need to ride the clutch if you know what you are doing and low range on mine fits that bill perfectly

Full throttle shifts are terrible for manual trans synchros and driveline. And the clutch too... unless it’s a wet clutch.

If you say so I have been running tractors and other equitment since I was 9 years old and I am 70 now and have yet to take out a clutch
