Regen Hour's ??

My NX4510HST has 47 hours on it and IF it has done a Regen I have not seen the cycle light come on. When we use the machine it is operated in the 2,000 rpm range mowing or loader work. From what I have read here and heard from other folks it should have already happened??? Are there units out there that run longer cycle times?? This is the only Tier 4 Tractor that I have and just want to be sure that I am not missing something that could be a possible problem.

47 Hours may be a little long, but with HST Tractors, the passive regeneration may be able to keep up with the filter. When you operate an HST Tractor continuously above 2000rpm, the passive regeneration in the engine has the oportunity to do most of the work. Where we see engines asking for regen more often is in the gear and shuttle transmission tractors. The operator is on and off the throttle during normal operation, causing more soot build up and less of an oportunity for the passive regen that is always taking place to keep up with the filter.

All long as your tractor is operated above 1800 rpm, if the engine needs regen, the light will come on and complete whatever regen is necessary. This may only take a few minutes. You can always do a Manual Regen on the tractor if you want. This process takes about 45 minutes.

Can a Manual regen be done , even if the Ecu isn't calling for one, I was told the light had to be flashing before a park regen could be activated?

When the light is flashing, you need to Regenerate the tractor. A Manual Regen can be done as long as the following conditions are meet:

Tractor is Parked with the Parking Brake fully engaged
The exhaust temperature is at least 68 degrees F.
Park the tractor in a well ventilated area in open surroundings
Do not depress the clutch pedal (NX in Nuetral)
Press and Hold the regen button for 2 seconds
Go have a cup of coffee and a donut (40-45 minutes)

The light does not have to be illuminated to perform a Manual Regeneration.

This may explain why, after 120 hours, I have yet to see the regen indications on my NX4510HST. I typically run the engine at 2000 rpm while doing any work with it as per the dealer's recommendation. Having worked a lot with skid steer loaders this seems quite natural as the common practice with those HST machines is to run at maximum engine output. -Chris
