Chevron (Hugo Chavez) oil refinery near Oakland, Cal. on fire, since all the refineries in US are at or near full capacity, get ready to open your wallets wide. So, when are you scientists going to invent the GAS PILL we just add to water and drive away.
The question I have for all:
Who gets the major portion of your paycheck A) U.S.Goverment, excluding FICA and state taxes or B) the OIL Companies :(

Are you serious about taxes? My federal income taxes (excluding FICA and state taxes) are more than 5 times what I pay annually for fuel, and I have an SUV and a 3/4 ton truck.

"Chevron (Hugo Chavez) oil refinery"

I believe you are thinking of Citgo who is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Chevron is a US company.........

Sorry Counselor, a lawyer, making $???.00 to $400.00 an hour is not your average salary in the U.S., So YES I am serious
For example, I am retired, have a decent pension , and have a SMALL income from my farm. My gas and diesel consumption in gallons last month (winter)for three Vehicles and a 41 hp Tractor was 204 gallons(no public trans), when I put my boat on Lake Ontario (Apr to Oct) and my 23hp Cub cadet Lawn Tractor (spring, summer, fall) into the mix , I use at least 270 gal monthly X $2.65 average (NY prices)= $715 monthly X 12 mo = $8580. a year. Then add home heating oil (700 gal) $1500 the total is over $10,000..On last years tax return, I paid less than $10,000 in FEDERAL income tax.
For me the OIL COMPANIES get more of my money than the federal gov

I think your right, I don't know for sure, my mistake

Uncle Buck,

I know how to fix your problem. The federal gov should limit the number of internal combustion engines that you are allowed to have! ;)

Of that $2.65 per gallon in NY state, 60.1 cents for gasoline and 65.6 cents for diesel pays the average local, state and federal taxes.

If gasoline prices had stayed on pace with inflation since 1970 we would now be paying around $6.00 a gallon.

It doesn't matter what you make for an income. Two things are true!

Gas is too expensive and taxes are too high...

That said we may never see taxes lower in our lifetimes than they are now.

And gas may never be cheaper again...

In 1963 Kennedy lowered the highest marginal tax rate from over 90% to 70%. Imagine paying that..

Regan lowered the highest marginal rate from I think 70 something to 28%.

It's been all over the boards since.

Regards,
Chris
