...I have been a Medic for the last 30 years my opinion regarding your medical skills is;

...Well Done, Sir...

The "Combat Lifesavers" I trained looked at me funny when I packed stuff like black electrical tape and tampons (with the plastic dispenser only) in their gear bags....till they found how well the pvc tape will stick thru blood, rain or sweat....and the tampons fit a projectile wound just perfect...swell to control the bleeding....and leave a nice string for the surgeon to follow...

BTW - I made more than one trip to the PX for "Crazy Glue" when the surgeons would run out of the fancy surgical "grade stuff"....same stuff inside the little tubes....

Do what works and **** public opinion!!

Carry on....:D

Now that's truly thinking outside the box, so to speak. Great idea, I just hope I never have occasion to make use of it.

What was FUN was standing in line at the PX with 6 or so pink boxes of em...:D

Be Safe!

Terry,

The Missus is 60 and is long past needing that product. But I do recall having to do some shopping for her. For me, having to buy just one box was "like unfun." :)

Oh, I NEVER had any problems....I would locate the loudest "snicker-er", put on my best "war-face" and ask in my "outside voice"....

"....YOU FIND SOMETHING "FUNNY" HERE, TROOPER (Sailor, Marine, etc)...??!!!"

....if the gray hair, unmarked BDU's and 6' x 250lbs didn't work, then that "O-6" ID card did...

...Precious Bride sez I have a REAL GOOD "war-face"....:D

...Carry on...:cool2:

My grandson came to visit a couple of weeks ago. His pickup's front bumper has an air dam below it that hit a curb and was hanging loose. Just to kid him, I told him I could fix it with some duct tape. He said he had already tried superglue. I knew he was one of us after that comment.:D I put some large flat washers on the bolts so that it overlapped the broken plastic to hold the dam in place on the bottom of the bumper, and he was happy as a clam.

Terry,

I agree with your bride. I'm too timid and unimposing to try to pull something like that off. My strategy was to wait around the checkout lines until a matronly cashier had no customers in her lane. :)

While working on our house project, my BandAid wouldn't stay on so I enhanced it. Worked great.

Obed

Can't ever argue with duct tape! Yesterday had the same problem, big blister from digging two post holes in clay (trees too close for PTO auger); band-aid wouldn't stay on. Happened to have white electrical tape on-hand for marking my neutral wire. Secured the band-aid great, & even looked kinda "normal" since it was white!

When my bride an I first got married she told me to never wear the ring when I was working around equipment. (Of course the Air Force had some regulations about that as well) She said she would rather I keep all appendages attached where they were supposed to be. The ring went into my pocket on an attachment to the house keys. Worked well for the past 25 years.

I got married and told my bride to be, don't bother getting me a ring because I will never ever wear it, so we had the ceremony without a ring to me. I have never ever been able to wear anything but a watch. It just drives me nuts having something on my fingers or around my neck like these chains people wear. I never will wear a tie, and will never button the top button of a shirt AHHHHHHHHH

I've used Duct tape for sprained ankles and wrists in the field. Wrap the sprained area with some sort of paper FIRST, ( toilet paper, news paper, paper towels etc. ) so the Duct tape doesn't stick to your skin. If it's an ankle take the sock and cut it off later.

Seems a little extreme for just a sprained ankle.

I'd say that the O-6 ID card stopped about everybody.

O-6 ID card? Not familiar with it.

The "O-6" indicates a rank of Full Colonel or Naval Captain...

Even tho I was a Civilian contractor, Medics were considered priority personnel...I was issued that card so I could use military air transport when no civilian assets were able to fly...

I never had to use it for that in 3 years...and there were enough folks with them running around Baghdad that an O-6 card and $5 would get you a cheap cigar...

Be Safe!

O-6 ID card? Not familiar with it.

That would correspond to the rank of Colonel for the United States Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps or that of Captain in the Navy, Coast Guard, Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps

In other words (as I understand it), someone to whom you say sir yes sir because they can make your life miserable if you get on their bad side.
