Recycled Asphalt Millings for Driveway

I wouldnt pay close to roadbase or recycled concrete prices. But despite disliking recycled asphalt I'd use it if the price were right. I put a load of round golf ball sized river rock in front of my shop to cover up some mud for a bit because the load was $100 delivered vs $450 for the right material. Not the smartest move & the river rock is comming through the recycled concrete a bit now. But the price was right & I'd probably do it again. River rock is going to be worse than all but the worst recycled asphalt.

Asphalt roads typically contain only 6-8% asphalt with the rest aggregate. UV over time deteriorates the asphalt but not the aggregate, and even then most of the asphalt is fine (just the top surface goes bad). That’s why they can reuse on highways with little material loss since they only need to replace part of the already low percentage of actual asphalt.

Recycled is getting harder to get now as they have smartened and use it in lieu of crushed run as road bed material.

Also, locally, they store it as 2 grades.
The good stuff reserved for the city and the balance for contractors and landscape guys.
However it is still cheaper than crushed stone.
