I would get the QA type forks if that is what you decide to go with. Forget the type that clamp onto the bucket lip. They tend to move around AND the big thing is that they reduce the lift capacity a lot by sticking way out in front. They can also damage your bucket if you aren't careful.

Check out the Configrap from MyTractorTools.com (Jery is a member here)

It's got multiple jaws - and one that is made for picking up rocks - but the rock jaws would probably work well for picking up logs too.

MULTI-JAW GRAPPLE!

Not sure exactly what the pricing is - it's going to depend on the options. Jery is a little web impaired - so his site doesn't have all the bells and whistles. He always responds to email though.

The grapple setup goes along with his Tach-N-Go quick bucket attach. I put one of the Kubota SSQA setups from the Bxx50 tractors on my B3200 - so Jery made me an "insert" that I welded into the SSQA setup after removing the crossbar. The insert has a 2" receiver - that is part of the connection system for the grapple - and I can also use it for moving trailers. There's also a couple of round receptacles for bale forks just in case I ever need that.

I'm hoping to get the grapple setup in the next couple of weeks and get that working (finally).

While I have no use for the clamp on forks, when I had my little Bota I bolted two lengths of 3" channel iron to the inside bottom of the bucket just to handle logs. Now I have a JD with a QD bucket that gets replaced by my homemade forks when needed, (about twice a week)
The two pieces of channel probably cost $20 but they convinced me to get a QD bucket on the next tractor...

That is a serous slash pile... Did you create that with your bx?

No the loggers did. I have two of those piles. You should have seen that one before I started. Already have pulled 30 cords of firewood off it and haven't started the second one yet. There is probably another 20 cords in the one in the picture. This was all done on a 30 degree slope with a bench I carved with the FEL in front of the pile. Rolled a lot of the rounds to the bottom first. That slash is from 15 Ac of clear cut mostly fir. Mixed in is cedar, alder, maple, and madrona. That long log is madrona. It is dense, hard and heavy. That long piece is probably 2-300#. Working the slopes created quite a few pucker sessions.

If your not going to have a long term use for the grapple I too would suggest a set of forks. Cost -vs- effectiveness makes them a great choice for a one time job and the possibility of future use is good so having them around wouldn't be a bother for those of us who don't like to see expensive things just sitting.

I get a lot of use out of my forks and would recommend having a set to anyone with a tractor.

I think you need to decide if this is a one time project or something that is likely to recur with some frequency. Pallet forks are a great and inexpensive approach if you just need to move a few logs. If you'll be messing with brush, or even repetitively with logs, I would highly favor a grapple. For me, the grapple rarely comes off the tractor.

Same here. I moved quote a few logs (and rocks) with the forks I had first, but when I got the grapple, it is my preferred implement for such work. Of course the forks are still great for pallets:)
