I'm hoping I could get a good one for
household/general utility use for $500 give or take a
little. Thanks,

I bought a 5 hp, electric from Northern tool. Perminantly mounted it in the basement, hard wired it and ran a line into the garage to a Cox Reel with 50' of hose. When I need it, I turn on the switch and pull down the hose. It's as good as any gas I've ever had and it way more convenient to use.

Holy thread revival! 🤣 I too have a 3400 PSI Simpson that works very well, has the GC Honda engine on it. I will say the fist one I bought blew up immediately although I dont blame Simpson for that, I blame Honda. Either way the replacement has been great for several years now.
Yeah!

I bought a Rigid brand gas pressure washer. It is a 3000 psi and has a two cylinder Subaru engine on it. Which I thought was odd, didn’t know Subaru made small engines. Quality made and has a brass CAT pump on it. I know what ever kind you buy it needs to have a brass CAT pump on it.

I own a power washing business. I have diesel fired hot and gas cold washers and all put out a minimum of 8GPM running Honda engines. The GPM is your cleaning speed, the more water you throw at it, the faster you clean. PSI is overrated as most things don't need high pressure to clean. With concrete you typically don't want to throw more than 2500PSI or you risk taking off the skim. If you want to use a surface cleaner, I would recommend a 4gpm machine at the smallest.
Pressure Pro is one of the best on the market for the money. If you want a washer that lasts, get one with a water bypass built in. This way, when you're off the trigger, the washer is still putting cold water through the pump keeping the pump from overheating. The lack of a bypass system is probably the # 1 killer for PW's.

Buy once, cry once. I always suggest a minimum of 4gpm with an unloader w/bypass. Don't really need anything over 2500 PSI but could move up to a 3500 if needs warrant it.
This will cover anything you need done. I can wash a 2000 SF house in 30 minutes and wash 4 stories high...
