Howdy,

Right now I'm usuing cakewalk either ver 9 or 9.03, and i need a better ( more user friendly ) utility to edit midi files with. I need something that will let me cut and past, and compose, and have it either show the scale/staff.. or by measure.. etc. The editor in cakewalk is a bit clunky to do any fine work of cuting and pasting.

Any software, and where to get it would be appreciated. I have a sam ash store within about 2-2.5 hrs driving distance.

Also, the wife has heard of a utility that will convert from an audio format ( aif, wav mp3, etc.. ) and transpose to midi... anyone got any clue or leads on that??

thanks

Check out Harmony Central

Looks like they have links to sequencer demo programs, and at least one audio-to-midi program.

Hmm.. looks like it is only audio format to audio format. Couldn't find anywhere where it specified it could convert down to midi sequences. Am I missing something?

And tot he previous poster, I'll check out that harmony central.

thanks guys

Hey Soundguy,

Are you attempting to convert an audio sequence to a MIDI file?
I have not really used the MIDI utility to it's fullest on my Roland V-drums, so I don't have much experience with this.
I did find a software utility known as Intelliscore which may be what you're looking for...here's a link:

Intelliscore software MIDI converter
