rebuilding offset disc

I am trying to rebuild a old 4 foot offset drag disc with hydraulic lift wheels.
I got the end nut off the axle and one disc off. Do i just knock the axle with
a block of wood and a sledge?

You need to unload the weight off the axle by placing the whole disk frame on jack stands if you want to remove the axle that way.
You can also unbolt the bearings from the hangers ( frame still supported by jack stands) and just roll the whole assembly out from under the frame and roll it up on end then pull everything off like a shiskabob.
