Rebuilding Kohler

what is the est. cost to fix a 23 hp kohler engine that has a broken rod. is it worth trying to fix since i don't have any expearence in rebuilding an engine. i would love to try if not too hard of a task.

Well its a very tedious process and you need the right tools. I rebuild my kohler k301 but did some upgrades to increase horsepower and i spent about $600 in parts an machine work. If you can find the model number of the engine you can look for a rebuild kit on like ebay which is where i got mine it was $100 for all new gaskets, piston, rings, and rod.

I looked at rebuilding my 20hp kohler but a new drop in motor was only $900

i rebuilt my k301 for less than $200.00 dollars ,it had 6200 hrs on it and started knocking . the engines are very easy to rebuild . . Robin Hood
