rebuild engine

has anyone rebuilt a compact tractor engine ? my massey 1540 is getting close to 3000 hrs,,i thought about rings and bearings.... like i used to do on my cat truck engine... just preventive mantance... or should i wait ...untill it really needs it...thanks for the help bruce

What about doing a compression test? see how it is? if you do it, a thread with pics would be nice.

if wonting to do it for preventive maintance you are one of the very few to do it. It is a great idea to do it atleast a bottom end job if not a total inframe but i would do it. It makes all the sense in the world

Well, before you invest thousands of dollars in it, what problem are you trying to address? Low compression? Dead Cylinder? Low oil pressure?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it....

thanks for the replys...i think i will wait untill i have trouble ... it still runs good ,does not use oil and still has plenty of power...thanks again bruce
