Reasonably priced Top and Tilt?

Can anyone tell me where I can get a reasonably priced Top and Tilt cylinders with hoses for my Cat 1 3ph on JD 3520?

What is the purpose of the check valve on the cylinders from CCM? I have seen other cylinders and they don't seem to have them.

CCM also is out of stock and they don't know when they will get more. Is there anyone else that carries these? I really don't want to spend the $900.00 to the JD's.

The purpose of the check valves is to keep the cylinder in the desired position. It is to prevent/reduce leakdown somewhere in the circuit or if you blew a hose or valve.
There are lots of other places to get cylinders and make your own. Many guys on TBN do exactly that. You can go to Surplus Center for one and get the cylider and hoses etc. They even sell checkvalves if you want them, but the ones they have are very large compared to CCM.

Since CCM is out of stock your best bet is to search TBN and find out what others have done in your situation.

For the most part, you have to determine the cylinder stroke and retracted length that you will need. Then find a comparable cylinder from say Surplus Center. Then get the type of rod ends you need for your tractor, tie rod or ball. Then cut off the old ends and weld on the new. Total cost should be in the $400 price range or less. A local hydraulic repair shop would be a good place to start.

For this attachment, paying $500 extra for JD green paint is not a very good investment, in my opinion.

Ha! CCM was out of stock and they were not sure when they would get more two years ago when I was buying mine! I sure liked the idea of their double check valves, but honestly had to wonder about parts etc. if one ever broke. I ended up biting the bullet and buying from my manufacturer. It doesn't have the check valves, and will leak down about 1/2" in a couple of hours, but at least it was in stock and when a fitting broke on the cylinder it was fixed that day. Nothing against CCM, but that is who everyone kept mentioning back then and nobody could get parts from them. I laugh because I know I've seen a dozen times where people have called them and they were "out of stock". It sure makes a guy wonder...

I just got a hydraulic top link and it's on the way from redlandhill on ebay. it was $149 + $7.50 for shipping. It included the eyes on the ends. Their phone no. is 1-910-652-0101.

Well I have to chime in here as I recently put a TNT on my rig and had a simlar experience with CCM. They were out of stock on the cylinders when I initially called and over an 8 month period I called at least 6 times and heard the same story, out of stock and it would be a couple of months. I had heard of, and read, the horror stories of the OEM Kubota TNT setups but after the 8 months I had waited, I decided to go for the OEM kit. I had spoken to my dealer and relayed my concerns and was assured that if there were any problems with the OEM system, they would take care of them.

I have now had the dealer installed OEM TNT kit for 6 months and my results may be out of the norm but I love my setup. As far as I can tell, it does not leak down and this is after 2-3 hours of box blade work and 4-5 hours of mowing.

I let the dealer install my set-up and while I probably ended up paying too much, I have been using my setup free from problems for 6 months now. Your mileage may certainly vary but I am completeky happy with my OEM TNT.

i got the gearmore top, still need to save up for the tilt. i put a gannon 72" box blade on it and have not seen any leak down,,,... wife drove it to move horse manure, got off and forgot to put the box on the ground. when i got home the cyl was still sucked all the way in, she knows now ,after me griping at her, to leave the box down. i just hope i never forget to put it down...jon

I havn't researched it thoroughly, I stumbled onto this page while looking for something else, but a non-return valve by any other name is a check valve - Yes ?

No.

The double pilot operated check valves require a pilot (cracking) pressure to be applied before the valve will allow flow. They are sometimes called lock valves. You need one on each end of the cylinder hence the "double" in the name.
