As promised Kurt Ackerman from George Ackerman Co. delivered my Rears Airblast Sprayer yesterday. Rears is American made in Eugene Oregon. Ater studying sprayers all summer I decided Rears was the best value for the money. It has a 300 gallon stainless steel tank, 32" adjustable blower fan, 20GPM @ 300PSI centrifical pump, two speed gearbox, electric valves, 8 flip nozzles per side, and a tracking hitch. This sprayer is packed full of feature at a reasonable cost.
It took us about two hours for initial set up and calibration. My prime mover is a Kubota MX5100 HST. I could get the 540 PTO speed with the tractor in Low or medium range. The sprayer ran in low range. I used 4 nozzles per side. (I have semi-dwarf trees) The unit delived 100 gal. per acre at 250-300PSI. I ran down the middle of my rows which are spaced at 20" apart.
The reults were nearly perfect, I used 900 gallons of chemical on 9 acres of peaches. When I decided to start an orchard I didn't realize there would be this much chemistry and engineering involved. The Kubota MX5100 and the custom built rears Pul-Blast sprayer are a perfect match. I don't think you will find better people to deal with then Kurt and the Ackerman company.
