My rear wheels have been in the same positions since i bought it new, my dealer said they can't be switched to gain any width.

But my back rims are different on the inside and outside.

Can i switch the rears to gain any width?

Would it be a NO NO to switch the fronts?

On my 4200 I switched the rears to the wide position and left the fronts in the narrow position. The wider the stance the more stable. Good if your land is hilly.

I have r-4's and my comments may be only correct for them.

You should be able to swap the side to side and increase or decrease width, front or rear. You would want to swap side to side as just taking the rim off and turning around would cause the tread to be backwards.

Did the dealer say why you could not do this???

Thanks for the info, I'll leave the fronts alone.

In my manual it don't say anything about changing them around.

Yea, i will switch them side to side.

When i bought my tractor new and after about a week i called the dealer, and ask him if i could swap them and he said, not on a 4300.

But i always knew they were different my the inside to the outside, but never tried it.

Thanks.

I swapped my rear wheels side to side and picked up about 1.5 inches. Not much but enough to fit chains with a little room to spare.

I tried the fronts also but they seemed too wide so I switched them back.

I did exactly what Chuck4310 did and for the same reason, Tire chains, even though this year I did not put them on the rear, only the front. I got a set of rear chains and wanted to be able to install them when needed. only down side on the swap is the rim is a little less pretty on the inside (outside now) but I'm gonna leave them like this all the time.

Did the same with the fronts, actually only took 1 off and flipped it around to see what it would look like and it was way to far out there, looked crazy, so I never switched them just put it back on the reg way.

I think the 4300 is very close to the 4310.

here are before and after pics, you have to look closely to see the difference, the 3rd pic is of the hydraulic lines that are threatened by chains on stock positioned wheels.

Good luck, JB

Thanks for the reply, i did a search on here and didn't like what i found out, (don't want my front wheel falling off):D

It is supposed to get around 70 deg. here tomorrow and i will switch them and see.

If i have to go through mud it will build up on the fender and rub the tire, not much room.
The dealer said it wouldn't change, and he also said they didn't make a vertical exhaust, but i called another dealer and he shipped it to me in 3 days.:D

Thanks JB

I switched them from side to side today and only gained 1 1/8 inch.

That wasn't much gain but enough to use chains if needed, and i should call my old dealer and tell him they can be switched on a 4300.

Picture 1 was before.

I have a 2000 JD 4300 sync-reverse. I've switched all 4 wheels for a wider stance. It also has the vertical exhaust.

I thought about switching my fronts but a lot of ones said they left them alone.
I did a search on here about the fronts and saw where someone switched the fronts and the wheel fell off.

My manual doesn't say anything about switching the wheels, and my old dealer that i bought my tractor from said, the rears couldn't be switched. And he also told me they don't make the vertical exhaust, but i found another dealer that got the kit for me, and i have had it on for 5 years.
