Can't decide...Considering L3410 or L3710
First, I must say that there is a tremendous amount of tractor knowledge provided on this forum. I've really enjoyed reading your comments for about a year now. Well I'm about ready to make a purchase and need some stats and feedback:

I am considering either a L3410 +FEL w/ HD bucket or L3710 + FEL w/HD bucket. Could someone report the overall width on these tractors w/ R4 tires ? I know the HD buckets are only 60" vs 66" on the std bucket. I think my facts are correct. Also, with the HD bucket running a few inches more narrower than the rear tire width, does this pose a big problem when clearing snow? Is there a noticeable difference using the HD bucket over the std bucket, lets say, when scratching 3' off surface or pulling bushes out in reverse with toothbar attached?

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

There's a discussion along these sames lines taking place elsewhere that you might want to check out too.

Don't let the HD vs MD designation mislead you. All the buckets are very strong and well built I'd suggest getting the biggest bucket you can. It's a big plus to be able to haul more in a single load, and if you ever find the load is too heavy, just don't scoop up a full bucket load. The only case where I can see a smaller bucket being of value is if you have some particular space constraint that prohibits use of the larger bucket.

As for tread width, I measured about 66" for a 4610 with R4s. I think the 3710 is the same width.

Here is some info I came across on tire widths.

don't forget to add the width of the tire to the dimension in the chart. The L3410 R4's are 420-70-24's and measure about 15 inches across. The L3710 R4's are wider still by an inch or so.

Mine are out all the way and it is pretty wide...(and stable).

My 3710 rear tire width with R4's is 66" and are set at the narrowest width. The standard kubota bucket (66") is of very good quality and I have had not complaints. I too use a toothbar and the standard bucket works well. I have never seen a HD bucket. If I had to do over, I would probably get a Woods loader with the optional quick-attach bucket. The Woods buckets also seem to be well built. I prefer to have the bucket at least as wide as the rear tires.

I have the L3410 with the HD round back bucket and the dealer highly recomends going that route, in fact he puts the Hd bucket on every unit he sells unless the buyer wants the standard bucket. I have moved very large piles of old concrete with some huge chunks and other than scratches the hd bucket has shown no signs of bending or dents. When I was looking to buy my unit I checked out some used (200-400hr) units and many that had the std bucket had dents and stress bends. I'd go for the hd and not have to worry about damage.
