Howdy all,
Was looking at the Kubota mower manual and it said to move the rear wheels out to their most outboard holes on the axle. I recently had bar/turfs installed on my B2400, and the dealer did not do that. Aside from probably better lateral stability (less "tippyness?"), is there any reason either to have the rear tires mounted outboard or inboard? Any thoughts? One observation is that when making relatively sharp turns on grass, the inboard tire(s) tend to leave some damage to the ground. Wouldn't having the tires at their outermost holes on the axle aggrevate the damage suseptability? Or is there no difference?

JeffRoy -- You won't notice enough scuffing of grass to make a difference. Pros: greatly increased stability, especially on a small tractor like that. Cons: Depending on what you use to mow, the mower may not cover the tracks. If that happens, the grass pressed down by the weight of the tractor may not be cut at the same level. Again, depends a lot on your mower deck. Some "lift" better than others. Another issue is only a con if you need to mow around obstructions or buildings where the rubber might hit. But I've always felt better to scuff a building with rubber than with steel.

It is what is right for you and conditions. When widing in the front it often makes for a bigger turn radius. I do like to have tires and wheels well with-in the deck width on the left side to make it easier to trim.

Yeah, I think if you have R4 tires they will contact the deck when it is lifted if the tires are set outward. This could result in a damaged deck. I could be wrong but my 2410 has the R4 tires and I am not set all the way out. J

Thanks all. These bar/turf tires have a slightly smaller diameter than the R4s or the R1s. I don't believe the tires would contact the deck if moved out. Also, this deck is a 60" deck and would still stick out beyond the wheels if they were moved out.
