Rear Remote Quick Coupling

I am 100 miles north of the Tractor / Manual and wanted to stop by the Farm Supply Store on the way out this weekend to pick up the Male part of the Coupler and some Hyd. Hoses.

Question is what type/Size is the Couplings on the Factory installed Remotes on the Boomers. ( TC 55 ).

I have seen couplings labeled "Pioneer" at the farm store, they LOOK

like the couplers on the tractor. Is this the Type I need?

1/2" Pioneer Male couplings is what works on my TC45D. I suspect yours are the same. The NH male fittings have a slightly different look, but the Pioneer couplings work just fine.

Yep. That's what I got on mine too. Should be able to pick these up at Tractor Supply for less than the dealer. Don't forget to take some teflon tape!

I've always been told not to use tape in hydraulic systems, use the liquid.

Teflon tape is fine in a hyd system, provided that when you wrap the fitting, you don't "overhang" the end, causing a tag end that can break loose, and travel through the hose/tube etc. Properly installed as described, there is no chance of infiltration, and, in my opinion, is much quicker and easier to install.

About the Liquid Thread dope versus Tape, When I picked up the New Toy, I noticed Hyd Fluid on the PTO Shield, ran my finger under one of the Remotes and it was wet with oil.

Pointed it out to the Owner/Salesman, He commented that the Remotes were just installed an hour ago, "The Dopes in the shop love to you that blame Liquid Pipe Dope, I use nothing but Tape" , they then had to take the Quick Couplings off , while he supervised to make sure they used 3.5 wraps of Teflon Tape.

Hasn't leaked a Drop.

I don't disagree, however, since the cost to repair an "overhang" would be high, many people don't want to take the chance, hence the "no tape" advice.

I'm another member that simply doesn't believe in Teflon tape for hydraulic fittings. I usually use Leak Lock however once it sets it takes a bit of heat if you ever need to get the fitting apart again. We don't make mistakes so disassembly is very rare and leaks are non-existant.
