So, I'm replacing a leaking seal in the rear PTO bearing housing on my late 70's JD 2440A. I've got it all apart, cleaned up, and ready to install the new seal. I notice some obvious wear in the bore to include some "burring", mostly on the inside of the quill. Why? Is this problematic? For what it's worth the shaft itself doesn't seem to be damaged. Should I deburr the thing, drive in the new seal and go on? Thanks for reading.
