As noted on a prior reply - JD has a center mounted "belly" blade which works great for gravel roads. I used one for over 5 years on over 1000' of gravel drive with my past Wheel Horse 5XI, which you could compare to a 400 series JD. I recently ordered the center blade (about $ 600) for my X585 as I plan on doing a lot of finish grading. I think you would appreciate it's versatility.
