rear axle plastic tube

The plastic tube on the axle of my 314 that runs from the fill tube up to the top fitting on the housing is deteriorated, cracked and leaking. When I add fluid to the axle it just runs out. What has anybody done to replace the tube? I was going to replace it with rubber hose. Also, how do you tell when the axle is full? I think it's low because it whines when in motion.

Not quite following what you are referencing. If cracked and leaking, I'd suggest visiting with the Deere dealer for a replacement. Is this the sight tube you are having trouble with?

Also, the manual should tell you how to check the oil level and how to add oil.
