Hi:

Does anyone happen to know if the U-Joints on most drive shafts are a common size? I was in the process of disconnecting my U-Joint on the implement side of the shaft on my Stump grinder when I lost all the needle bearings out of the cap in the dirt (Hate when that happens). Why was I disconnecting this? I need to straighten out the implement side of the shaft as I slightly bent it and wanted to fix it in a 20 ton press... :O)

So I'm planning on getting a new U-Joint but was wondering if I can just match it up or if they generally have different sizes. I'm hoping I can just go to the auto-parts store (or the closest tractor place) and match up a replacement. I would imagine that the sizes very due to HP but considering all that HP goes through a tiny roll pin so I'd think even the smallest of U-Joints would handle the HP.

Thanks in advance....

If you know the manufacturer of the shaft, I'd do a search using Goggle or other engine. Also, a Tractor Supply store should have them.
The internal splines and locking devices for my shaft's U-Joints are integral. I don't think you can just buy the rollers.
This would require buying the whole U-Joint, of course.

Here's a link to start.
