Re: Mitsubitshi D2050 FD - tires

Thanks for the previous responses. I was wondering what to load my tires with, I have heard that some use antifreeze, which is dangerous to the environment and others. I have also heard to use calcium but I heard that that rusts the rims? Is there something else that they use that doesn't freeze? If so how much weight would this add to my tires, how much do you fill them with, and what does it cost? Thanks...

Look at the top right of the screen at search and type in Easy Tire fill. The fitting is available at TSC and other places. There are probably more threads on this too. May try "fluid in tires" or something of that nature.

Try looking for methonol in your area, it does not freeze but not quite as heavy as anti-freeze. As for weight, water is eight pounds to the gallon but I think methonol is about five pounds per gallon. Measure how much your tire shop or you put in, I was only able to fill my tires about 75% full, this will give you an idea on weight. Also depends on your tire size as well. If you are unable to find the methonol there is anti-freeze that is enviromentally safe now a days also. Good Luck... tacoma1

You might try windshield wiper fluid, or RV. antifreeze
The RV. stuff is cheap to buy too.

Calcium chloride is what is in most farm tractors. It is used because it adds more weight than plain water & doesn't freeze. If it properly installed , there should be no problem with rims rusting. Rims rust when the tube gets a small leak & the owner decides to add air instead of getting it fixed. I've traded in tractors that had this problem & I've done it myself.
I have tractors that have had Calcium chloride in them for 45 years with the original rims.
