JD 4600 series tractor and JD x300 series mower
Hi there. We bought a 2nd hand mower to complement our JD tractor.
I went to start it the other day and although the engine turns on, there is no movement in either forward or reverse.
The parking brake is off, the bypass valve lever for free wheeling is all the way in but there is still nothing.
I can move the mower by hand with the bypass valve lever both in and out.
Further suggestions would be very welcome.

Check an see that a drive belt has not slipped off of a pully. I have a Troy-Built zero turn mower that has thrown the belt between the engine and the pump occasionally.

If you can move the tractor with the bypass in either position I think you have an internal problem with the transmission.
