If you are planning to buy a fair amount of AMSOIL and other AMSOIL products, I found it was worthwhile to go to their website, AMSOIL.com, and join as a 'preferred customer' . I just joined a few weeks ago @ $10/6 months. I more than got my 'club dues' back on my first order. You will get ~15% off the retail prices quoted on the website (and the $6 you quoted for oil...and I'm assuming it is diesel oil... sounds roughly like the retail price).
I am transferring everything to AMSOIL oil and filters, so I will be purchasing a fair amount over the next several months as spring tune-up time is just around the corner here in the deep south.
Check out the website prices, calculate what 15% discount comes to, and compare to the $10 'club fee' to see if it makes sense for you.

Amsoil makes several different types of oil for diesels. Which oil (5w30, 15w40) is the parts place selling for $6.25/quart?

The web site lists the 5w30 for $8.35/quart and the 15w40 for $5.20/quart.

Good answer /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The other thing you might try is to find a local dealer working out of his house in the area, I ended up finding one thru a friend 3 miles from work so it's easy to stop and pick my stuff up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry guys that would be 10w40 high performance synthetic. If I use in every thing it will be over 100 a year. Two cars & tractor.

You will save money using it in cars. Also you need to see how many miles you put on in one year. I just just it in the tractor since I have been using the 15w-40 oil for a long time and it works really well.

Plus I hate getting up the car to do an oil changes (or any oil changes) all the time and this process/product works great.

How will you save money using it in cars ? If this is in increased mileage then other cheaper synthetics will do the same thing. Also if you extend the oil change period beyond the vehicle manufacturers specs you will void your warranty.

Just curious.

slowrev—You will save money, along with time using it by: only doing the drains once per year vs several times with reg oil. Never mind the used oil and oilter filters I hate bringing here and there to recycle. Again my time savings are worth the extra $$$ for the oil. Never mind the benefits of the additives etc. It is the best oil out there? No, but I feel for the properties, advantages and benefits it is the best “bang for the buck”

I do not buy the increase in mileage by using Amsoil but that is me. All my MPG are within some small delta.

Lastly, you or anyone will not have a problem with the warranty by using the extended drains. When I purchased by mototcycle I did the extended drains and Suzuki did not care or say anything. Same went for Ford in my old Powerstroke diesel and now in my Lexus. I also do not know anyone that has had an issue since the longer drains are coming “hot-and-heavy” nowadays.

I do not know why everyone says this and that about warrenty issues when the ONLY way they can prove anything is by oil test that is it. You can have all the slips and records in the world but again, that does not PROVE anything about how long the oil was in the engine. They will do an oil test if or for whatever reason.
