Everywhere.

Any tricks for driving them out without hurting the rest of the animals?

I thought of the shotgun, but the horse might not like it.

Thoughts?

How about a small game air pistol or rifle. Use the pointed tip ammo.

I know what you're dealing with. I've been using my .22 single shot Remington with modest sucess. I think its time to find some of the rat shot. The trouble with the rats at our place is, they are constantly moving, that and my bad marksmanship makes them a tough shot. I also have to wait until the spouse leaves before shooting at them.

Sounds like you need a rat sniper rifle. :) This little dandy explodes rats on contact at over 200 yards with 17 grain ballistic tip bullets.

I've got mouse problems.. they love one of my cars. tried several things, moth balls, bouce fabric softener sheets, traps.. but very limited success.

A long time ago had a rat problem..used traps, pellets, and once a baseball bat.. but to really get rid of them we destroyed the home..!

I know mice aren't rats, but I think there are similarities between their hearing organs (maybe I'm wrong??). but with the mice, I bought an ultrasonic rodent repeller and no more rodent sign, as long as I remembered to turn the device on;) Pestchaser Electronic Rodent Repeller It's not suppose to bother pets, horse etc..

Feed them some of the Dog food that's been recalled, seems to work on Dogs...:D

Well, there is one less than there was just a little while ago. There were three out and about but, after the first kill, the others went into hiding. The trouble we have is the chicken feed that is in the yard, seems to be great rat food. Poison isn't an option cause of the birds, and she won't use poison for anything anyway. We've used live traps with some sucess but, if the birds are in the pen, they trip them.

Maybe some "rap (rat) music"?
