Ratchet Rake use on gravel drive potholes?

I need some instruction on the proper method for repairing gravel drive potholes with a RR. I'm really a visual learner and some video would be great, but a verbal description of your technique would also work.

Maybe I just need more practice, but I also need some specific guidance. Do I start with the bucket tilted and use both rakes to back drag material into the hole? Use the bucket level and bottom rake driving forward to smooth?

Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.

No replies, so I sent a note to the folks at Ratchet Rake. Here is their (quick) response:

When grading driveways and filling in potholes users keep the bucket parallel to the surface (see attached picture) and primarily use the smaller set of teeth. After the potholes are filled with loose material, I recommend removing the rake and back dragging the loose area with your bucket to pack the holes. Using a heavy roller or tamper would also be beneficial depending on what type of stone/soil combination your driveway consists of. Also, it may help to wet the loose areas before attempting to pack them down.

I don't have a fel or ratchet rake but when I get my next tractor I plan on getting both.

Generally speaking, you don't want to backdrag with your bucket tipped too far forward (cylinders extended). It's possible to bend a cylinder rod by putting them in too much compression.

I have a RR and have used it both pushing and pulling with the small teeth. I've mostly used the large front teeth on brush and such.

I think it's a great tool for certain uses.
