I know I forgot to check the filter gasket came off with the old filter; and ended up double gasketting a filter; and dumping 5 quarts in about 5 miles. Caught it before it was completely empty, but another mile or so, Dodge 3.9L would have been smoked. Engine went on to make it to 212k before we got rid of the truck.

I wish tractor dealers were as fast as the car dealers.

I sent my UTV to the dealer for a service job. It took them 9 days to change oil, filter and grease and bring it back.

I noticed some fresh oil on the floor under it every time I drove it. So they picked it up and went back to the shop to fix that.

The drain plug never got tightened correctly the first time.

It took them another 6 days to get it back to me.

6 days to tighten a drain plug. AUGH!!!!

Had that happen to me once back in the 80s, only it was an F-150 with a 302. Like you, I caught it in time. Engine was still going strong when I sold the truck many years later.

My tractor has some funky single-use washer/gasket that goes under the drain plugs. Not always easy to find locally, and it leaks a little if you don't use one. Never had a car/truck that needed one of those weird gaskets, and they don't leak, wonder what's different about the tractor?

Never seen that on any of my tractors, but we did own a Volvo that spec'd replacing the oil pan washer on each oil change. I bought a box of 10 or 20 of them when I did the first oil change, but realizing they were just plain soft aluminum washers that didn't really even distort when used, I just kept re-using the same one. I gave the nearly-full box of those washers to the new owner when I sold that car after 10 years and nearly 200k miles.

That car also had an oil filter setup where you had to replace a paper element, not the usual spin-on cartridge. Messy job, which required you to remove and re-install the air intake to access the oil filter cartridge reservoir. Great car in many ways, but they sure like to make simple things more difficult than they need to be.

My Kubota's both use copper sealing washers on the fluid drains and I've never replaced any of them. I just anneal them prior to putting them back on. Easy-peasy.

I had an oil change by Jiffy Lube due to an 'emergency trip' (trips, actually) as well.. 3x 1200 miles round trips in as many weeks. A couple months later I'm leaving a trail of oil. While searching for it, I found the oil filter seal leaking, then notice its the same filter that was replaced at the oil change prior to Jiffy Lube, written date and all. Jiffy never changed it.. maybe loosened it then forgot?
Another thumbs down for Jiffy Lube.
6 days to tighten a drain plug.
They were probably studying the thread on TBN.
