Ran out of grounds/neutral slots in my main breaker box.

All went well. I ended up putting the main breaker on the bottom. It looked allot neater. I just finished installing the last circuit and took a quick picture. I am going to neaten things up a little bit more. I have a good 8 hours in this. Taking the old wires out was more work than running the new ones. I am going to be replacing my electric hot water tank with a gas one which will free up 2 spaces. I also added a surge which took 2 spaces. The 2 tandem breakers you see are for small items like a doorbell, etc. Thanks for every ones input on this. I got allot of great ideas from everyone and learned a few things. :) Next project, replacing the electric water heaters. I am going to open a new thread for this. Not sure to go tank or tankless.

i heard some people cant get used to tankless. some say they love it. what i did was go with vented high efficiency tanked gas unit. this was i wasa able to get rid of my old metal chimney and its easy to glue up the pvc pipe whereever u what it to go -- of course just read instructions on guidelines on how far from things.

Let me try to clear this up. It was confusing to me when I first opened the box........I myself have never seen a breaker box like this one.

The first time I saw my daughter's electric panel(like the OP's original one), I also was confused. An electrician tried to explain it, but this discussion helped clarify it better. Glad your time to rework the situation lead to a much better situation for you. Jon

I hope that is not aluminum bus in that panel.

Homeline is aluminum. The "cheapest" all copper panels I've found is Seimens.

Sorry for not mentioning this before-A tip to help keep the panel wiring clean to to separate the grounds, neutrals and feeds for all the circuits. Attach all the grounds first and route everything right to the corners. Then do the same for all the neutrals. Finally run the individual circuits on top of the other wires. I think I did mention before a few zip ties helps keep things neat as you build the panel.

The new aluminum bus bars are nothing like the old ones. The old ones tended to be low grade/quality. The new bars are specifically formulated for electrical usage. Same with aluminum wires.

You can put more than one ground or more than one neutral into each slot. usually you can fit 2 or 3 wires into the hole and then tighten the screw down.

You can fit that, but that doesn't mean it is rated or approved. Most panels i have seen are rated to allow multiple ground wires under one screw, but only 1 neutral per screw. There may be exceptions to that, so you need to check the ratings on the panel you are using to know what is allowed.
