I have no opposition to legalizing pot, should have done it years ago. The other issue bothers me.

If my goal was to accumulate wealth thru my life I would have bought every acre I could scratch up financing to buy. The farm I own would quickly sell for $3,500 an acre today. My Dad bought it in 1948 for $75.95 per acre. Took him 20 years of hard work to pay for it. So with that equation, land is still cheap. An annual payment of $30K would pay for it again in 20 years.

I was there when my dad bought his property from the previous owner. No clue what my father paid...but the previous owner said his grandfather bought it for 1/2 cent per acre in 1900 or there about. Yeah, it痴 a good investment.

No. I won’t speak for my friend ovrsd, but speaking for myself, if youre sensitive to a property next to you and you dont buy it when its 100k and now worth 800k, shame on you. You could buy it and rent it and make all your money back, but have a great deal of control over it.
OR have the temerity to tell the neighbor to do a better job maintaining his adjoining property border.

I have a 600’ border with my neighbor. 12 years ago, when I bought my property, it was a border of stickers, invasive autumn olive and a nice mix of trash. I went to my neighbor and struck a deal. I proposed a vision of a beautiful property border between us. I offered to supply all the labor and he supply the planting materials.
I bulldozed all the overgrowth and burned it. Giving him the choice of planting materials, I fixed his split rail fence and planted 8 large trees with holly bushes in between them. I assured him I would mow between them and keep it nice.
That was 10 year as ago and it still looks good and we are both happy we did it.

Same kind of conversation w my neighbor. Basically we agreed if he comes a bit on my property while he is mowing or I go on his we don稚 care. Just keep the place mowed and looking nice. Before that talk we had some high weeds growing along the property line.

Looks much nicer groomed and mowed. He planted some fruit trees on his side. Said I was free to pick the apples if I wanted.

Moses timed leading his people across a 'reed sea' (not THE RED) just before seasonal flooding turned it into a marsh.

Results are/were the same, still not a full understanding of the landscape, the exact place, and the time of year.

Mud severely hampered horsemanship at Agincourt and Waterloo as well.

Anyway, living with a bad neighbor can be a bear. Being a good one Isn't difficult. ;)

Getting along with neighbors is much more preferable than not........

I am glad I have good neighbors, and have tried to be the best neighbor I can be since I bought my place.

I take care of my property, and have taken care of adjoining property for neighbors that did not "get to it" and have had so many verbal and gift thank you's over the years it is gratifying.

And then drowned the entire Egyptian army in 6" of water. (Couldn't resist, punchline to an old joke)

First-hand accounts may be subject to translation/interpretation and untouched photos are often scarce, like with many confrontations between neighbors ...

As in any conflict the winner always tells the story.

I look around daily. Rough timber land without utilities sells to city hunters. Everything else sells to farmers.

As to privacy, security and well being, that is diminished when the city folks come to the country. They bring their bad habits with them. :(

Yes they do

Long time local stopped to talk to me on the side of the road this weekend. He was wondering about the possibility of resuming his (FREE) hay taking at my new "grow-op" neighbours. Told him, I tried to suggest they use him to keep weeds down and get his hay crop as payment. They want as few people involved as possible.

There has always been animosity toward "CITY" people, but I have never seen it to this extent. And the fact that I always felt an outsider (being a city person, and German, not named SMITH or Mac Gregor) makes me quite surprised that local after local is telling me how they feel (negatively) about these CITY people.
