Greetings,
When I was leaving a service call today I had to circle around behind the building inorder leave and as I was making the last turn I saw this beauty sitting in the back seemingly rusting away.
Since I had my little digital camera with me I got out, checked it over and took a few shots of it. I then went back in and asked about it. The owner says it's a 1949 International Cub and it's still running but that he hasn't used it in quite awhile. Said he was saving it for his son who lives in a sub div. I went on ahead and told him that I was very interested in it and left my name & number should his son not want it.

So, how much is it worth? We didn't discuss a price but he did allow what he had in it on some repairs he's had done over the years. I already have a price in mind should it become available but am curious as to what anyone/y'all would price it at.

Thanks
Volfandt

$600-3000 Depending on condition and attachments.

I paid 2500 for a 66 in minty condition with a front blade and belly mower.. factory 12v system, hyds, new rubber, etc.

That sickle bar mower adds about 200$ to the base price of the tractor, if it fully works .

It is an older one.. you can tell from the sheet metal and round nose. maybee a magneto driven unit? hard to say.

In any case.. I'd look to pay 1200-1500 for that unit, assuming it runs.. may a tad more if I had to have it.. but no more than 1700-1800.. etc

Thanks for the reply Soundguy. In doing some more research, I believe it's either an A or Super A model.

I don't recall seeing a magnito but that doesn't mean it doesn't have one as I just gave it a fast look over. I do know that it's 6v and if it does have a mag, it wouldn't bother me in the least.

It also seems that International, Case, McCormack & Farmall are all intermixed in one way or the other. I've seen pics with the above names listed on very similar tractors.

I haven't heard from him so it may be a moot point but, ever since I sold my 48 TE-20 Ferguson I've had this need to get me some old iron back in the stable. And I could use that sicklemower too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Attached is a picture of an "A" Farmall. The gas tank is shaped differently and other features are not the same as the one that you are looking at. I had a farmall Cub 8 years ago and for what it's worth the features are identical looking to the one in your pictures. My opinion is that it is a Farmall Cub in your pictures. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Volfandt,

By the way I forgot to mention: I was in E. TN last week for the route 127 Yard Sale and the trip from Chattanooga in the South up to Formbus in the North is BEAUTIFUL! You live in a very pretty state. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks again for the replys. After looking at pics of other A's, I'm sure y'all are right that it's a Cub which is good in that matches what the owner said.

And thanks for the kind words re. E. TN.

Another question or two, what is the HP of this Cub and is it a 3 speed ?

I'm definitely sold on a sicklebar mower. Last year I found a sicklebar mower to fit my old 1966 Wheelhorse. I use it to mow a long bank thats too steep to mow with a rider or even a push mower and it's a PITA to cut with a weed eater. It does a good enough job other than I have to ride up on the bank a ways to clip the top. I figure a longer sicklebar mower would be the ticket /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif as I ain't going back to weed eat'n /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll be in the area again tomorrow, I just may pop back in again and make sure he hasn't lost my number... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The early cub's were around 9-11 hp, but that is at 1650 rpm's about as much torque as a modern 25-30 hp CUT. The cub has a live lift and a 3 sp trans. One problem is the PTO runs backward for any other tractor, so only cub equipment will work. they are one of the easiest tractors to work on , don't take much space and parts are still avail. Any Case/NH dealer will have most parts, and most anyone can work on it, a real simple machine that is overbuilt for the HP, so will last forever. HTH, latet, Nat
