I ran into a deer a few days ago at about 50 mph. Damage doesn't seem too horrible. It got me thinking about an aftermarket bumper that would possibly hold up better with deer as I seem to do it every couple years (2nd time with this truck in about a year). I was looking at the Herd Aero LT (quoted at ~$2600), but it has very small eye bolts (they told me 1" diameter eye) and I'm afraid that they won't hold up. Shoot, can't even put a 3/8" chain / grab hook through that like I can with my factory tow hook (2010 RAM 3500).

I've tried searching the web a bit, but haven't had much luck finding any decent push/wrecker style bumpers. My old '79 F350 had huge homemade front and rear bumpers that were made out ~12" tall c-channel. They were great. Was just hoping to get something a little nicer than painted c-channel though.

Any suggestions?

I would imagine a fabrication shop could weld a 4" tube to some brackets that would bolt to existing mounts. It may not be pretty but would be functional. A custom built " good looking " one is going to be spendy.

I put a Ranch Hand on my F150 and it looked like a 5 year old welded it and they do not bother cleaning the slag from their welds prior to powder coating. I complained to ranch hand enough that they gave me 200 to fix their issue so I got it rhino lined before it was ever mounted which hid their spectacular welds. Granted they did stand behind their product but their craftsmanship or lack of is ridiculous.

Man, I haven't thought of RanchHand in years. That's what all the rich kids had on their shiny trucks in high school.

Ranch hands are nice but I always wondered about the weight. The Cummins is already pretty heavy without adding more weight out front.

So you are looking at something like this?

Might just add a shackle to the equipment you keep in the truck?

Yes, that was the Herd bumper I was looking at. I'm not a fan of the eye bolts and have decided to cross them off my list.

Couldn't you just ask them about not putting them on?? I really like that and wouldn't bypass something that could be customized

Find a welder, some weldets, and schedule 40 pipe. Take it to a body shop for a good paint job.

If there were no eyes on it, then there wouldn't be any tow point on it.
