verb

tumped; tumping; tumps

chiefly Southern US : to tip or turn over especially accidentally

—usually used with over
sooner or later everybody tumps over. Nothing to worry about if you don't get caught under the canoe—Don Kennard
Neither had I. Maybe a southern states thing?

We were at a museum in Polson Montana today, a huge collection of things inside and out. This was outside and caught my eye, I no nothing about it and there was no sign.

Saddle tanker? 'Fireless'? There is no distinct firebox and what seems to be the smokebox really looks small and 'boxy' to me, as in not drafting a boiler as we might expect out of familiarity. (Nothing so specific in the links.)

Note that lacking a fuel tender and with the cylindrical outer body extending to the rear of the cab I wonder if this is one of those engines into whom pre-heated bricks were loaded to generate steam. It would make sense to me for a lumbering operation for several reasons that come to mind.
