I have a very small leak in the bottom of my radiator. Its located somewhere behind the fins on my ym2200. Now I was wondering since its so small and I cant reach it with JB Weld has anyone ever used Prestone Leak-stop in their tractor? I thought about it but wanted to get some advice on the stuff.. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have used a product for stopping leaks in tractor radiators. It is worth a try.

Dan,
I believe that Bars Leak is the answer. I used it in my International 444 approximately 15 years back an it is still holding. It only costs $3 or $4 at Wal Mart or any auto parts store. I have also used it in other vehicles with success.
Good luck.

I even used Bars Leak on a leaking freeze plug on a car and it stopped it. I have heard of it stopping leaks in a cracked block.

Before you just pour in a stop leak of some kind, I would wonder how large the passages are in the radiator. I learned the hard way on my Subaru. It had a small leak in the cooling system so just dumped in some stop leak. Couple months later a thousand mile from home car started over heating. Had to take it into a radiator shop and they pulled the top tank and found the passages which were small, almost completely stopped up from the stop leak.

Best do it right from the start, pull the radiator and fix the leak in a proper maner.

It should work fine as long as you are mindful of how much you use. I have a 15 oz. jug of Solder Seal super radiator sealer, (probably the same stuff), that says dump it in, however if your system is less than 9 quarts, only use half. I believe your system is only about 4-4 1/2qts., (1gal.+-), so I would only use about 4 ounces to prevent clogging.

I put Bars Leak in the radiator and so far so good no leaks. I even had a small spot in my head gasket that leaked water down side of engine and it sealed that too. That bars leak is some good stuff if it doesnt mess up anything and I recommend it for this type of project... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
