Hey Guys... I hope I am doing this all right. I belong to Puffs Cigar Forum and know from experience newbies on forums have a tendency to post in wrong places and sometimes come off as rude although I am sure non-intentional. I am computer illiterate so please bare with me or do like my friends from Puff's do and just laugh at me
I am use to it so it's OK....
As I posted in my New Member section, my name is David and I live Off The Grid up here in the Mts. of Tennessee.
I have a 5105 ..about a 2005 ish..John Deere tractor and there is radiator fluid coming out of the air intake. I noticed early last year I was losing fluid and assumed from seeing fluid in front of the radiator I had a leak. I put in a can of stop leak and it severely slowed down. I never did see exactly where the leak was coming from. I would check after I was finished with my work and never saw anything. Yesterday, I put in about a quart of water to top it off and drove it for 20 minutes and decided to check. It was dripping out of the intake. It doesn't seem to drip much once it has run awhile. There is NO water in my oil, at all. BUT, when I bought the tractor about 10 years ago, I noticed what I thought was about a tablespoon or more of oil in the radiator fluid. Someone told me it was residual from the factory's coolant. Yeah Right..
I can only assume this is not correct and it probably is linked with the issue I am having.
The tractor runs GREAT...doesn't run hot, starts right up without any smoke from the exhaust.
I called John Deere yesterday and the fellow I spoke to had no clue at all. I am not the best mechanic in the world but I always said I could build a spaceship if someone gave me the parts and instructions. I could probably fix this myself if I knew exactly what it was I was fixing. A friend told me it was OK to drive this for awhile longer if I made sure to keep the fluid topped off and not let it overheat. Opinions???
I'll send a Cuban cigar to anyone who can help me fix this without having to haul it to John Deere. Thanks Guys..
