Has anyone had to go into the tranny on their 3644 to fix the 4wd gear fork or replace a broken selector shaft?

yes. the lever that slides the 4WD gear in and out wears off so that the 2/4WD lever just flops around and doesn't do anything.

in this photo the part has not been replaced yet and you can see that it doesn't extend into the groove.
