I have a Massey gc1710 and was wondering what everyone was using for a quick hitch. Also I was looking at Pats easy hitch and was wondering if they fit when you put the backhoe on. Thanks

Kevin, I noticed no-one had replied to this. Did you mean to limit the question to the Massey forum, or the GC1720? If not, an internal search on TBN for "quick hitch" will bring up numerous threads on the subject. I am wondering on the backhoe models of the Masseys if anyone has used Pats easy hitch and if there is enough room for them to stow when the backhoe is put back on.

I have a GC1720 and use the Pat's Easy Change system. I am able to stow them while using the backhoe, although it is a tight fit.

When you installed Pats easy change was it a simple bolt on with no problems? Did you need a longer top link, and would you do this upgrade again? Thanks Kevin

I got a regular CAT 1 quick hitch... If my attachments don't fit QH exactly I mod them to fit...
This hitch makes PATS obsolete as you don't have to monkey with width thing as with PATS... BUT if you have BH it may be necessary to use something like PATS...

My favorite is the Speeco economy model because it doesn't require you to use bushings on the attachments like most other quick hitches. The only thing I see "economy" about it is the name and it is slightly less money than their regular one.

I have a GC1710TLB with a HF Quick Hitch. So far I've had to drill out the toplink and the lower lift arm holes to proper sizing for cat1, replace the pins to proper size (all to eliminate slop when pulling my box blade). I've also replaced the hook for the toplink. All told ive got about $170 into making it right. Every set of bushings for the implement is $20-$25 a pair.
Do yourself a favor and buy the Speeco Economy from above. Costs a bit more up front but it'll be right and save you money on bushings.

Probably could have save a few bucks not getting it from HF.... Everyone who has commented about HF quick hitch has commented on mods to make it work or additional parts to buy and therefore no much money saved....
I have the BE QH1G and no mods were required to just hook things up...

I have the SpeeCo. A piece broke between the top handles and the locking lever below. IT was a fork that moves the lever. Called about it and next thing I know a SpeeCo rep called me and wanted my address. They sent me a whole new quick hitch as they did not consider that a customer replaceable part. Had it like 3 or 4 days later. The broken piece is held in place with roll pins and will take a bit of time to deal with but pretty sure I can still fix the original which they told me to keep. Good customer service. No idea how the piece broke though as it looks to me like it should not really be under any stress.
Buy the tubular bushings and lynch pins instead. Those expensive ones aren't needed.

Have to disagree on the Cat 1 QHs. The Speeco Economy Hitch is a good one, for sure, but it's nearly three times the price of the HF QH, if you buy the latter with a coupon. Yet both are well made, and with all the HF hitches in use by TBN members, I just haven't seen reports of product failure. Also haven't previously heard of anyone having to drill out the hole in the bracket where the top link attaches. I have three of them, and my Cat 1 top link pins fit perfectly. The only mod I think is really worthwhile on the HF hitch is to swap out the top hook for one that sits further out beyond its bracket. You can swap out the top hook and still be way ahead on price.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the lower link hooks on the Speeco Cat 1 hitch have an inner radius that will only fit the 7/8" diameter of a Cat 1 pin. That's a big negative in my book, because it can't be used with this popular type of Cat 1 adaptor, which I like for easier hook-ups on several of my implements that don't use a clevis-style link pin setup: Bushing Kit-Quick Hitch Bushings | Agri Supply 77869
The current model of the HF QH has lower link hooks that are sized to fit those bushings. If you want to use them with the standard Cat 1 pins, just cut some DIY bushings from 1" I.D. galvanized pipe, or pick up the tube-style Cat. 1-2 bushings at a farm supply store for just a few bucks. I much prefer the flexibility that the larger inner hook radius allows.
Interestingly, the earlier model of the HF QH from several years ago had lower hooks with the smaller internal radius like the Speeco.
My experience with the HF QH has been very good. I have three of them, one on each of my loader tractors. The oldest one is 16 years old, yet for the last six years it's been on my 2014 NX4510HST Cab, pulling a 750 lb Woods BSM-84 box blade and a 550 lb Woods HBL84-2 rear blade. I do a lot of heavy grading, and I haven't seen any sign of metal fatigue or weld failure on any of the QHs so far.

But much worse; It greatly extends your load center distance.
Every additional inch of load center distance reduces lifting capacity.
I have had my front tires feel light sometimes as it is.
Don't see hooking up the 3 point as any kind of big problem.
